The Supreme Court today slapped life imprisonment to "international serial killer" Charles Sobhraj, who is also known as 'Bikini killer', for murdering an American backpacker in Kathmandu 35 years back.
A division bench comprising justices Ram Kumar Prasad Shah and Gauri Dhakal upheld the verdict of the Kathmandu District Court and the Patan ppellate Court which found him guilty of murder of US citizen Connie Jo Bronzich in 1975.
Along with the life imprisonment, the court also ordered the seizure of all his properties. The 66-yr old Frenchman was arrested in 2003 from a casino in Kathmandu.
Sobhraj, who was sent to jail in 2004 after the Kathmandu District Court's verdict, had filed an appeal at the Supreme Court.
Sobhraj is also facing a case at the Bhaktapur District Court for the murder of Canadian national Armond Carriere. nepalnews.com
