SC asks to stop syndicate in transport

The Supreme Court (SC) has issued an interim order asking Seti-Mahakali Truck Entrepreneurs Association to stop syndicate system.

The bench comprising judges Ram Prasad Shrestha and Ram Kumar Prasad Shah issued the order asking the government to stop such system till the final decision is made on a case related with the system that has been filed at the apex court.

The Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) had filed the case at the court claiming that the system had violated the right to work and right to do business.

The FNCCI has been in tussle with transporters over the syndicate system even as the latter claim that they only have implemented a system to facilitate movement of vehicles. nepalnews.com sd Aug 26 08
