EC to use EVM during by-elections

Election Commission has decided to use electronic voting machines (EVM) for by-elections to be held in six constituencies in near future.

Speaking at a seminar in Pokhara Sunday, election commissioner Nilkantha Upreti expressed hope that the use of EVM in these constituencies would help make the election process more transparent and fair.

Six constituencies remain vacant and the election commission has said the dates for by-elections will be announced soon.

EC organised the seminar to review the elections of Constituent Assembly held four months ago and prepare future strategies of the commission.
