Govt formation sows dispute in UML

Constituent Assembly members representing CPN (UML) from western region threatened to quit the party if western region was ignored while sending party representatives to the new government.

Bhim Rawal, who had been active in negotiation with the CPN (Maoist) for formation of new government, and other lawmakers accused the party leadership of ignoring the western region.

In a press meet, called by the disgruntled leaders after the decision of the standing committee, they urged the party to revise the decision immediately.

Similarly, party's central committee member Radha Gyawali announced her resignation from the party saying the party failed to include 33 percent women in the cabinet.

The interim parliament had passed to include 33 percent women in every organ of state mechanism, the motion initiated by UML leader Vidhya Bhandari.

UML leaders are likely to be included into the cabinet only after the return of Prime Minister from Beijing visit. nepalnews.com ia Aug 22 08
